4 Tips for Purchasing the Perfect RV for You!

We’re not going to lie, if you’re going to take up the RV lifestyle, and hit the open road, you MUST find the right RV for your needs. The last thing you want is to get caught up in a large-scale purchase that doesn’t work out. As always, we’re here to help! We’re going to give you four ways to pick out the perfect rig. If you’re looking to purchase, be sure to check out Camping World of Rapid City for all your RV needs. Located at 10400 Recreational Drive in Summerset, Camping World will have all the options you need to lead the adventurous lifestyle we all crave!

  1. Learn the Differences:

If you’re not familiar, the task of finding the correct RV can be daunting. There are Class As (gas and diesel), Class Bs, Class Cs, Fifth-Wheels, Toy Haulers, Travel Trailers, Pop-Ups, etc. Class As are the largest and roomiest, and generally offer all the luxuries of a stationary home. These are the best for full-time living, especially with family. Class Bs are conversion vans, and Class Cs are distinguishable by the sleeping bunk directly above the cab. The others are generally pulled along by a truck, and are best for road trips and vacations.

It’s important to do your research. Just remember, if you’re planning on full-time living, you’ll most definitely want to go with a Class A RV.

  1. What Do You Do Most?

If you live in a city, you might do some camping on the weekends or even tailgating for your favorite sports team. If you’re in the country, you might find other practical uses for your RV. If you want to travel all over, that’s another RV entirely.

Obviously, if you like to cook a lot, you’ll want a kitchen. If you have kids, you’ll need a lot of room. Driving on treacherous mountain paths may require a camper on the back of a truck. Before you purchase, figure out what you’re going to be using your rig for the most. It sounds simple, but a lot of people overlook this step.

  1. Be Ready to Maintain and Budget

As any RVer will tell you, trekking many miles in any vehicle is going to require maintenance. Many people are now buying used, as sometimes newer models have issues that have yet to be fixed. As a general rule, the bigger the rig, the more there is to maintain. This goes hand-in-hand with budgeting. How many miles per gallon will your RV get? How much is your vacation going to cost when you drive? Your insurance bill will even be bigger with a larger rig. We’re certainly not trying to discourage you, but brace yourself for sticker shock.

. Relax and Have Fun!

Always remember, you’re getting an RV for a reason. Whether that be long travel, or just for tailgating outside the stadium, we purchase RVs for fun and adventure. Your purchase shouldn’t be a massive burden, stressing you out and keeping you up all night. As with all things in life, it’s good to find a balance, take your time and figure out the perfect rig for you. If you plan ahead, you’ll be well on your way to enjoying an awesome life on the road!
